H.T. Chen and Dancers seeks strong male modern dancers for its 2012-13 season of performances, plus rehearsal of new choreography and touring.

Recipient of the 2009 NYC Mayor’s Arts Award, a 2002 NYS Governor’s Arts Award, and a 2005 Bessies Special Citation, the company performs annually in New York, conducts residencies and educational programming throughout the year, and operates a year-round school and blackbox theater in lower Manhattan.

Eighty 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students from our After-School program at P.S. 42 will present classwork and movement studies in 4 performances on Wednesday, June 6th.

The School at Chen Dance Center will hold its annual Piano Recital. Students will be performing piano pieces they have been working on throughout the semester.

The School at Chen Dance Center will hold its Spring Dance Recitals. The Modern Dance, Ballet, and Hip Hop classes will showcase the talents of its young students in 6 performances.

Chen Dance Center announces the Magic Lantern Film Slam, open to all filmmakers. Everyone is welcome to participate. Please follow our guidelines below.
Film Slam Guidelines:
1. Films must be under 15 minutes (including credits)
2. Films must adhere to MPAA guidelines and have a rating of PG-13 or lower
3. Films must have one scene take place in Chinatown (or if you’re not in NYC then a Chinatown in your neighborhood)
AND Choose (at least) one from below:
4. At least one character wearing all red
5. At least one dance sequence in it
6. A red lantern prop
If the topics listed are not met, they will be ineligible to win prizes but can be screened
First Prize: Dinner for Two
Second Prize: Two tickets to a show at Chen Dance Center
Third Prize: Chen Dance Center Tote Bag
Special Acknowledgment: Chen Dance Center T-Shirt
