In The Company News
H.T. Chen & Dancers in Hudson, NY April 23 & 24th.
Presented by Operation Unite, H.T. Chen & Dancers will be performing at the Columbia-Greene Community College on Sat, April 24th at 8pm at 4400 Route 23, Hudson, NY 12534. The concert features excerpts from Apple Dreams (2007), in which Chen creates a fantastical world through his masterful use of space, dynamics and imagery. Dancers rise from the ground and meet, building to fill the space with running, shouting, and spinning, creating a vortex of energy. The choreography calms to reveal delicate structure, with images of human interdependence and the beauty of nature unfurling.
The performance will conclude with Shift (2006), a bold company work that takes viewers along on a journey from tableaus of isolation, struggle, and frantic searching to scenes of joy, fulfillment, and peace. Shift delves into the recesses of the sleeping mind, playing out the beautiful, surreal, and often eerie life of dreams.
During the residency, the company will also be presenting educational performance “Eight Strokes & the Moving Word” as well as conducting workshops in the community.
