Performance
Presented by H.T. Chen & Dancers, Eight Strokes & the Moving Word is an innovative one -hour performance with live narration, audience interaction, video presentation, and vibrant dance excerpts of traditional and contemporary dance. Teachers receive an extensive study guide to help students make the most of their experience. Eight Strokes & the Moving Word de-mystifies the process of choreography while providing a valuable lesson in Chinese history and culture. Though a combination of Chinese and modern dance, narration and audience participation, their audiences learn about China and its folklore and how they inspire the imagination to transform stories and ideas into movement. The art of dance is made more accessible as the children learn how easily their capabilities for creativity and self-expression can become art. Simultaneously, the children’s education in Chinese history and culture provides them with a universal perspective and inspires pride in their own ethnic backgrounds. So experience a Eight Strokes & the Moving Word performance and experience an education program that does more than just perform.
